The ends of old aluminium beer barrels. They can be bolted onto wooden rails, yet still resonate very strongly with beautiful, clear tones (rather like Tibetan bells). They can be supplied with fitted plugs, so that they can be used with water, becoming water-bells, where the wave of sound can be seen in the water, and the water “springs” or begins to fountain when the bell is struck hard. Subject to availability.
Have been cut into sections and can also be bolted onto wooden rails, and still sound with interesting tones that beautifully complement the barrel-bells. Designs for 2009 combine the two designs together where the bottle bells hang down above the barrel bells.
